ALSACE WINE ROUTE, the quintessence of wine tourism in France
Perhaps no other region in the world offers such a high and comprehensive potential for wine tourism. Alsace is the junction between France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland, and enjoys a favourable climate that is surprisingly dry for a northern region, thanks to the protection of two mountain ranges, the Vosges and the Black Forest. The beauty of its natural sites is matched only by its immense cultural heritage, the harmony of its architecture and the typicality of its villages. Winding over more than 170km, from Thann in the south to Marlenheim in the north, passing through Guebwiller, Colmar, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé, Obernai and Strasbourg, the Alsace Wine Route gives you the option of discovering 70 wine-growing villages and 1000 producers, true ambassadors of their region. With 7 grape varieties and 51 grands crus, some of which are among the greatest wines in the world, it reveals a mosaic of terroirs like nowhere else. And the know-how, the multiple and exciting visions of wine. Festive, convivial, picturesque or more aesthetic and cerebral, Alsace offers an infinite number of multisensory experiences to discover wine in all its dimensions and nuances.
While in Riquewihr, complete this enchanting and instructive journey with a lunch or dinner at La Winstub Brendelstub or La Table du Gourmet. At the starred table, Anne Humbrecht's encyclopaedic knowledge of the wines of Alsace, classified by geology, and her absolutely accurate pairings are un laisser-passer en ligne droite a direct line to your emotions.
